These terms explain the basis on which HomeEnergyCalcs.co.uk provides its calculators and information.

Planning estimates only

The calculators provide indicative estimates for comparison and planning. Results depend on the figures you enter, third-party data and simplified modelling assumptions. They are not guarantees of future generation, savings, performance, payback, eligibility, installation quality or product suitability.

No professional or regulated advice

Nothing on HomeEnergyCalcs.co.uk is financial, investment, credit, legal, tax, electrical, structural, engineering, heating-system or installation advice. The Solar & Battery Quote Checker is not an MCS system performance estimate, site survey, electrical design or recommendation to appoint or reject an installer. The Plug-in Solar Payback Calculator is not a product-compliance, electrical-safety, mounting, fire-safety, planning, tenancy, leasehold, insurance or network-connection assessment. Obtain appropriately qualified advice where a decision requires it.

Installer and quote comparisons

The site compares only the numerical information and assumptions entered by the user. A difference between an installer figure and our model does not establish that an installer has acted improperly, supplied an unsuitable system or made a misleading statement. Differences can arise from shading, roof geometry, equipment, survey information, weather datasets, tariff assumptions and methodology. Users should ask the installer to explain material differences and check the underlying proposal.

Meaning of “independent”

Where we describe a calculation as independent, this means the calculation is not supplied by, selected by or adjusted for the installer name entered into the tool. HomeEnergyCalcs.co.uk may display third-party advertising. Advertising does not change calculator formulas, assumptions or results and is not an endorsement of an advertiser.

Check current information

Energy tariffs, export rates, product specifications, grants, warranties, certification schemes and regulations can change. Check current information directly with relevant suppliers, installers, regulators, certification bodies or official sources before committing to a purchase or contract.

Great Britain coverage

The postcode-based solar tools currently support Great Britain (England, Scotland and Wales). They do not currently support Northern Ireland. Other calculators may also use Great Britain-specific tariffs or assumptions; each tool should be checked before use.

Plug-in solar

Plug-in solar rules, product specifications, network requirements and consumer guidance can change. A calculator result does not establish that a product is compliant or that a socket, electrical installation, balcony, wall, garden position or other mounting location is suitable. The plug-in solar calculator is intended for Great Britain and is designed around solar-only plug-in systems, not plug-in battery products. Check current official guidance, manufacturer instructions, property permissions and any applicable Distribution Network Operator notification or registration requirements before installation.

Use of the site

You may use the calculators for personal planning and comparison. Do not attempt to interfere with the service, bypass security controls, misuse automated access, submit unlawful content or present calculator outputs as guaranteed professional assessments.

Third-party data and services

Some calculations use information or services supplied by third parties, including PVGIS and Postcodes.io. Third-party services may change, be unavailable or contain errors. HomeEnergyCalcs.co.uk identifies important external sources where practical but does not control them.

Availability and liability

We take reasonable care when designing and maintaining the calculators, but cannot guarantee uninterrupted service or error-free results. Do not make a material purchase, financing or installation decision solely in reliance on a calculator result. To the fullest extent permitted by law, the operator is not responsible for losses resulting solely from reliance on an estimate without checking the underlying assumptions and current external information.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful, including any liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited.
