Why the site exists
Energy upgrades are often presented using headline savings, efficiency figures or simple unit-rate comparisons. The harder question is whether the change makes financial sense for a particular household. HomeEnergyCalcs.co.uk turns that question into a transparent calculation using figures you can inspect and change.
The tools cover installer quote checking, rooftop solar, plug-in solar, home batteries, solar self-consumption, heat pumps, EV tariffs and efficient appliances. They are designed to help with early-stage comparison before you commit to a tariff, product or installer quote.
How the calculators are designed
Each calculator exposes the assumptions that materially affect the answer. That might be a tariff spread, seasonal coefficient of performance, export rate, number of appliance cycles or the amount of energy available to shift. Most calculations are performed locally in your browser. The postcode-based solar tools use a small Cloudflare API to obtain location-specific PVGIS production data; financial inputs are kept browser-side where practical.
We deliberately encourage scenario testing. Energy prices, household behaviour and product performance change, so a single payback number should not be treated as a promise.
Independence and limitations
HomeEnergyCalcs.co.uk does not sell energy tariffs, batteries, solar installations, heat pumps or appliances. The site may display advertising to support its operation, but advertising does not change calculator results.
Results are planning estimates. Always check current tariffs, product specifications, installer quotations, warranties, eligibility and any professional advice appropriate to the decision.
The calculators do not determine whether an installer has acted properly or improperly and are not a substitute for an MCS estimate, site survey, electrical design or other professional assessment.
