Calculator inputs
HomeEnergyCalcs.co.uk does not require an account. Most calculator inputs are processed locally in your browser.
The Solar & Battery Quote Checker uses a small server-side calculation service because the European Commission PVGIS service does not permit direct browser requests. For that tool, your Great Britain postcode and solar-system geometry (such as array size, orientation, pitch and system-loss assumption) are sent to our Cloudflare-hosted endpoint. The postcode is sent to Postcodes.io to obtain latitude and longitude; the coordinates and solar-system geometry are then sent to PVGIS to model solar production.
The service is deliberately designed so the installer/reference name, quote price, installer-claimed generation, claimed saving and claimed payback are not sent to the solar-modelling endpoint. Those financial quote details remain in your browser while the result is calculated.
The Plug-in Solar Payback Calculator similarly sends the Great Britain postcode, panel orientation, angle and general system-loss assumption to our Cloudflare solar endpoint so it can obtain a PVGIS hourly production profile. Kit price, electricity tariff, local shading adjustment and household-demand figure are processed in your browser and are not sent to PVGIS by this calculator.
We do not intentionally create a customer profile or database from solar-calculator inputs. Cloudflare may process normal technical request information such as IP address, timestamps and security signals while delivering and protecting the service.
Why we process information
For essential hosting, security and the postcode-based solar calculation, we rely on our legitimate interests in providing, securing and improving the service requested by visitors, provided those interests are not overridden by your rights. Optional analytics and advertising storage/access technologies are used only on the basis of consent where consent is required. If you contact us by email, we process the information you send for the legitimate interest of responding to and keeping an appropriate record of the enquiry.
Who receives information
Depending on the feature you use, information may be processed by Cloudflare (hosting and security), Postcodes.io (postcode geocoding), the European Commission Joint Research Centre PVGIS service (solar modelling), Google Analytics (optional analytics) and Google AdSense and its advertising partners (advertising, where enabled and permitted by your consent choices).
Postcode coverage and licensing
The postcode-based solar tools currently support Great Britain only (England, Scotland and Wales) and rejects Northern Ireland BT postcodes. Postcode geocoding is provided through Postcodes.io. Underlying postcode datasets remain subject to the licences and attribution requirements described by Postcodes.io.
Postcodes.io currently identifies underlying Ordnance Survey, Royal Mail, National Statistics and National Records of Scotland data and associated copyright/database rights. See the linked source on the solar checker for current licensing details.
Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand aggregated website usage, such as which pages and tools are visited. Analytics storage is denied by default through our consent setup and can be enabled if you accept analytics cookies.
Advertising and Google AdSense
HomeEnergyCalcs.co.uk may use Google AdSense to display advertising. Google and its advertising partners may use cookies, device identifiers or similar technologies to deliver, measure and limit ads, subject to applicable consent requirements and your choices.
Where required, advertising consent is collected through a Google-certified consent management platform. Advertising and analytics choices are separate; choosing whether to allow analytics does not change your advertising-consent choice.
You can read how Google uses information from sites and apps that use its services.
International processing
Some service providers may process information outside the United Kingdom. Where UK data-protection law requires safeguards for an international transfer, we expect the relevant provider to use an applicable lawful transfer mechanism and contractual safeguards. Provider privacy information should be consulted for current processing locations and safeguards.
How long information is kept
We do not separately store postcode-based solar-calculator inputs in a customer database. Technical hosting/security data is retained only for the periods applied by our service providers and for as long as reasonably necessary for security, troubleshooting and service operation. Analytics information, if you consent, is retained in accordance with the retention settings applied to our Google Analytics property and only for as long as needed to understand website usage. Email correspondence is kept only for as long as reasonably necessary to deal with the enquiry and any legitimate follow-up or record-keeping requirement.
Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, UK data-protection law may give you rights to request access to personal data, correction, deletion, restriction, portability and to object to processing. Where processing is based on consent, you can withdraw that consent for future processing.
Your right to object: where we rely on legitimate interests, you have the right to object to processing in circumstances recognised by UK data-protection law. Contact contact@airbornemedia.co.uk to exercise a data-protection right.
If you remain unhappy with how personal information is handled, you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
Automated decisions
The calculators produce mathematical estimates from the inputs supplied. We do not use them to make solely automated decisions about individuals that have legal or similarly significant effects.
If you email contact@airbornemedia.co.uk, the information you provide is used to respond to your enquiry and for reasonable record-keeping. Do not send sensitive information unless it is necessary.
Cookies and your choices
You can reject optional analytics through the site's analytics choice. Browser settings may also let you delete or block cookies. Advertising choices are provided through the applicable certified consent interface when advertising is active. Non-essential storage or access technologies should not be enabled before the consent required by law has been obtained.
