How to get a more useful result
Use your own tariff or quote figures, then run the calculator again with a more conservative assumption for the input you are least sure about. A decision that still looks sensible under both cases is more robust than one that only works under optimistic inputs.
Compare useful heat, not just fuel prices
Heating systems convert purchased energy into useful heat with different efficiencies. A direct comparison of electricity p/kWh and gas p/kWh therefore misses the effect of heat-pump seasonal performance and boiler efficiency.
