Appliance electricity cost

How much does an air fryer cost to run?

This worked example uses 1,700 W, 0.4 hours on each use day and 260 use days per year. Change any of these inputs in the calculator.

Important assumption

The example assumes 24 minutes of operation. Cooking time and food quantity matter more than rated watts alone.

What changes air fryer electricity use?

Air fryers tend to reach cooking temperature quickly and heat a smaller chamber than a full-size oven. That can reduce energy for small portions, but the advantage narrows for large batches that require several separate cooks. Basket size, pre-heating and recipe time all matter.

Make this estimate more realistic

For a realistic comparison, time one normal meal and use the actual cooking duration. If you would otherwise cook several dishes together in the oven, compare the whole meal rather than one item in isolation. The editable calculator can then use your own wattage, runtime and tariff.

Electricity prices change, so the 15p, 25p and 35p/kWh rows are sensitivity examples rather than a current-tariff claim. Use the linked calculator with the unit rate shown on your own bill before relying on the annual cost.

This is a worked planning estimate, not a measurement of your appliance. A smart plug, energy monitor or manufacturer annual-kWh figure usually gives a better real-world input for cycling appliances.
